Last time I was in the "mud" I had to crawl out The window. Then watch 2 big Ford powerstrokes totally destroy my rear bumper trying to get me out!!!

I like slippery wet trails and ladies.......just dont do the mud bogging thing like all the farmers around here. They for some reason think its fun to drive through the same 75 yard long mud puddle all day. Lol

Your gonna need some extra weight to get that trailer movin if you are seriously doing it.

Cmon man. Just buy a truck before you rearend someone.

There no real way to make and MJ tow a Cherokee safely.

I guess you could put an MJ emblem on a powerstroke.

Ill never own a ford! Mopar or no car and i was gonna upgrade to disk in the rear with two piston in the rear and 4 piston upfront and i was gonna go to a sprung over set up which will give me 4-4.5" of lift with a long arm up front. Figure they can tow bout 5k from factory and an xj weighs bout 5k and the trailer about 2k and with the reinforcement's to the unibody and dana 44's i dont see how it wouldnt be able to tow the xj specially with a turbo straight 6 it will pull it just stopping it like others said and with trailer brakes and disk all around dont see how it wont do it

The 4.0 will pull it stock, but your tranny will hate you for it. Hell i pulled a ranger with my 2.5, but its not the power thats the problem.. No matter what you do to the braking on the MJ, you'll still never have the weight to stop the xj on the trailer. Like he said, it CAN be done.. just not SAFELY or made safe practically.

But if you're dead set on doing it.. then make sure you use at least a dual axle trailer with trailer brakes, and go slow.

When i was a kid, this old fella by my had a metric ton Comanche, with some kind of dual wheel setup on in. It was ugly as sin, but he pulled a welcraft boat on a tandem axle trailer with it. Im not sure about any details on the truck, but i saw him do it. Not saying its the thing to do, or not. What all did they do to the metric tons to make them different from regular manches?

I'm not trying to rile you up... I'm trying to convince you that it's a bad idea. No matter what you do, it will not be safe to trailer an XJ behind an MJ. If you were to ever pass a Transport Police officer on the highway he'd burn you a new one! They have citations for things like this for a reason.

You'd never own a Ford but you'd modify an MJ to haul a car trailer...

Why are you opposed to selling the MJ and purchasing a 5,000 dollar truck to tow with? To make the MJ remotely close to able to tow the Xj you'd spend way more than that.

Why not sell the MJ and buy a J-20? A J-20 would tow the Jeep MUCH better than an MJ.
