I will be building a 1993 XJ soon, and I want a good sound system BUT. I do not want to loose room in the back . Has anyone use one of the pre-made subs units? how did you like it ?

 

When I replaced all the stuff from my stock system, I noticed the bass was lacking, even with Polks front and rear. I knew I would need a sub, but like you, I didn't want to lose ANY rear floor space. I looked at the XJ pod that Quadratec sells, but it projected out too much for my tastes, and didn't look like the fit and finish was that good. So, I did this...



My whole system:

Dual XDMAR6720 CD/MP3 SD Bluetooth Head unit
Dual XPE2700 amp mounted under front passenger seat for sub
Polk DB651 6.5" Speakers in doors
Polk DB521 5.25" speakers in rear headliner
Kicker 6.5" CompVT sub mounted in self-built enclosure in rear cubby.
About $450 for everything from Amazon, including an amp wiring kit and the grill for the sub.

There is a guy on here that sells a speaker box like that wish i could remember his name.

 

I have 2 5.25" sony 4-way xplods up in the front doors, 4 6.5" kenwoods in the hatch and sound bar and a 10" 400rms boss diablo shallow mount in a stealth sub sealed enclosure I got off subthump.com. It sounds amazing to me, doesn't shake the neighborhood but can shake the whole jeep if I want it too. I love it and I would recommend subthump any day much cheaper than the other stealth boxes out there
