I was going deeper than that had it up to my hood and was about a 30 yard whole and went through a few like it.
then how does the air box not suck in water? do you have a snorkel or at least raise your air filter? the yota in that picture is on 36s and the water was at least 4ft deep. my dad got caught in the sea weed otherwise he wouldve made it across

as long as you can see some headlight your okay. once the headlights go under then get worried lol
Engine: 4.0L with throttle body spacer and cold air intake, bored throttle body, #784 injector upgrade
with the factory air box, the opening is about even with the turn signal... atleast it is on mine. Agree whole heartedly on if you can see your headlights then you should be ok. Either way you more then likely should avoid water that is any higher then the bottom of your rig... unless you have a snorkel.
Last weekend got mine in water up to the headlights.
Water inside the engine and water was up to my seats inside.
Lucky me we put new spark plugs, new starter and new starter fuze. She fired right up
This Donkey (bone stock 2000 Classic) is ridiculous, nothing can stop it. I went thru several "puddles" today and water was sloshing up onto the hood, deepest spot above my knee so like 2+ feet deep. Finally had to backtrack and I hit the deepest puddle with a bit more speed and it stalled out a bit more than halfway thru but the engine was mostly up out of the puddle. It cranked right up about 45 minutes later and drove another 100 miles, haha.
Last two days after swimming expedition in the Donkey's check engine light is on and it doesn't shift at the redline, it shifts at mid RPM even w full throttle. It also hesitates slightly and idles wrong intermittently. I read here it is prolly the connector for the TPS (throttle position sensor) and I need to do fluids for the diffs and maybe tranny (AW4) tho my instinct is that is sealed up good. It's time anyway so imma do it.
Replaced Throttle Position Sensor now Donkey runs like it should. Had to replace a foglight bulb too. That seems to be the only damage from the high water.
Had my tires covered, bow wave from the top of the hood. Too deep, no stopping! Steady thru it, went right back, no more over 35" deep( yeah, sure...) R
