Default Jerry can best practices - stabil, non-ethanol?

Hey all - finally getting a jerry can for the XJ. I read you're supposed to fill it to 95% so it's got room to expand, and I was thinking about putting in good non-ethanol gas in it so that in a pinch I could use it for pretty much anything. Do you all put Sta-bil in yours? I also read that non-ethanol may not even need Sta-bil - do you just cycle through it every year or so?

I'm hardly the first person to do this so no need for me to reinvent the wheel. Thanks for the wisdom!

If I am going to keep it around awhile, then Sta-bil goes into it

I use Stabil in pretty much all my Jerry cans.

You can also "rotate stock"....when you fill your tank, use what's in the can, then pump the remaining balance and refill the jerry can. As long as you do it occasionally, you should be good to go.

Or just buy a bottle of Sta-bil, 🤣

I'd argue against the 95% fill idea. The air inside the tank is what expands/contracts to create pressure inside. Fill it as high as you can to minimize the airspace inside.
