A lot of pointless emotion expressed here but what I want to know are the facts. What is happening to the rest of the parts. The motor gets locked up but what of all the other parts? Can it be parted out or is it have to be crushed? This is not any help to the environment or the economy. Where do you think all this scrap metal is going? It is going to China. We will have to buy it back! This is part two of the public bale out of the big3. Wait & watch.

What I don't understand is why not just part the vehicles out to junkyards?
Does the same thing by making the "clunkers" not drivable anymore but it also restocks the junkyards with parts for people who can't afford to buy new parts all of the time...o well not like there's anything we can do about it...sadly

They have to be crushed. No salvageable parts. The whole idea is to get "inefficient vehicles" off the road.
They should make an exception for "offroad vehicles"!!!
Crush the ricers and mall crawlers!!!

Yep. they have to go directly to a scrapper who must shred them immediately. NOTHING can be removed from the vehicle other than draining the fluids before it is run through the shredder.
