I'm just wondering why chrysler can't make a jeep that gets better mpg or is just the nature of these types of vehicles and what they can do. Wouldn't an overdrive do it, it does it for my vette which can get 27 mpg on the hwy and still crank out 300 hp. I was thinking about tradinbg in my cherokee but just can't justify them crushing it...and I can't find something to replace it for a reasonble sum...the sahara is nice but a little too pricy and I won't get shyt for my 99. Guess I'll just fix up the "old clunker" and drive her another 30 or 40 thousand.

you know what really makes me sick...and i wont go into much detail about what a friend of mine and i were talking about, but, another friend of mine took advantage of this and bought a brand new dodge caliber...............

but he traded in a 1990 YJ in great shape...it had a few things that needed attention, but what jeep that old doesnt....

now, another friend of mine, with a 92 YJ, has horrible seats and has been wanting some new ones for some time........well, i tell him about my friend getting rid of his, and since everything is getting destroyed anyways, may as well trade seats with him, bc my friend who is trading in the YJ has brand new Best top seats all around and a brand new best top soft top......

but for some reason, we didnt have time before he traded....so my friend calles the dealer and says "ill give you 100 bucks plus my old seats if i can come over there and take the brand new seats outa my friends YJ and put my old ones back in since its getting demolished any ways

the dealer wouldnt hear of it

a lot of people who didnt know much about jeeps, thought it was new when they saw it

 

My dad turned in his 93 xj with about 280k on it last week for "Cash for Clunkers" He got $4200 plus what ever they matched.....for an $800 dollar jeep that was all rusted out......I get to blow it up next week........Awesome!!!!!
The vehicle turned in for this program go to a salvage yard and can be parted out after the motor is disabled.

 

just watched the videos on youtube this is a crime, the innocent slaughter of this cars

I know someone that traded in their 95 Grand for this deal to get a Dodge Avenger. His Jeep wasn't in too bad of shape. It had somewhere around 215,000 miles on it I think, but still ran decent. Call these guys idiots, stupid, or whatever you want. But they now have brand new cars with lifetime warranties, and better gas mileage than everyone else on here. If I had the extra money to pay for a new car with this deal, my Cherokee would be out the door too. I'm just as much a Jeep guy as everyone else here, but whats it worth to keep when this deal is going on?

 

You do what you have to do, but I'll make a yard planter out of my ZJ before I let them turn it into scrap. JMO

 

uhm yeah id choose my jeep over a lambo any day even it got 1390148321392 miles to the gallon. I love my jeep and i will keep it till its ran to the ground and then ill rebuild it from the heep up. Shame on you

 

To turn in junks is one thing, but PERFECTLY GOOD CARS its RIDICULOUS!
Watching the first video was painful, I don't own a jeep yet but I love cars and watching it being waisted like that, hurt. I just sold my 92 Eagle talon and I'm looking out for the right XJ but I would never have traded it in, especially after I know what they do with them. I've never owned a clunker, I maintain my cars, I bust my knuckles and send my paychecks on them, I would never do that to it. I dont like any cars after 2000 anyways, I'm old school.

They should make one "CASH FOR IDIOTS" the world would be a better place. Now thats tax money at its work

 

Someone needs to explain that if your so willing to get rid of your xj because you can get 4500 for it then Why dont you buy a import and change forums trader.. And did you watch the video of the cars. gov that someone posted on here its just another way to KILL the AMERICAN dream and take away our FREEDOMS that our men in uniform are protecting what a slap in there face.
