HID questions
Which HIDs would be better for headlights as well as offroad lights? Im looking at some 10000ks for my headlights and looking at getting a set of 8000ks for my fog lights. Not sure if I should go 8000ks for my headlights and 6000ks for my offroad lights or possibly another combination. I already have projector headlights with H4 100 watt bulbs but its not bright enough for me. I do plan on running the relay set up with the HIDs though as well as a relay set up for the upgraded headlight harness. Any and all suggestions and opinions are welcome and appreciated. So lets see what every ones has to say shall we

10000k is going to be purple in color, I believe that to get a natural sun color lighting is 5500k, most halogen bulbs run 4000k to 4500k. I've seen a scale that has the different temp colors I'll try and find it again.

Ok so it's not purple but it will be vary vary blue.
IMO if you want the best possible lighting get as close to the natural daylight as possible 5500k. It is less strain on your eyes because it is what they are naturally tuned and adjusted to, and in all my research it seems brightest. If you want more visual aids search HID light color temps in you favorite search engine (mines bing, but I know most like google)

to the original poster if you are calling those crappy ebay "projector" housings, there really nothing more than a magnified piece of glass in front of the bulb they are about the worst housing as far as the way they disperse the light on the road, (they are likely the reason you dont like the 100 watt bulbs), do yourself a favor and get a true h4 housing before spending more money on bulbs true projectors are about a thousand bucks for 2 housings.

I am considering the 8000ks because they have the blue tint just dont want them to be so blue that they bring unwanted attention from the police around here. Visibility is my top priority though. Any one have any pix by chance of their rigs with their choice of hid colors?

Here's the deal with HID lights. If you are getting them so you have better visibility then go 5 or 6K. The higher the K ( kelvin) the less output of light you get. 5 or 6 preferably 5 has the most output. If you are around 4K then you get a yellow light. In the case of HID lights bigger number doesn't mean anything unless you want that blue or purple look which is going to produce less light than the weakest halogen you can buy.
