Also you can get 55 watt ballasts as well. Be sure you get the digital slim ballasts too. If you get the ballasts that was once all you could get you will run into severe interference on your CB and radio reception. The digitalis will do it still on some cars but not nearly as bad.

In the case of HID lights bigger number doesn't mean anything unless you want that blue or purple look which is going to produce less light than the weakest halogen you can buy.
This I what I was trying to show with the picture. The k has to do with color of the light nothing else, and again I will mention human eyes are adapted to natural sun light (roughly 5500k) not blue light or purple, yellow, red, but sunlight.

Thinking about getting this kit in the 8k HIDs with the hi and low beam set up. Any one use it or know anything about it?

Looks like those kits are very similar to the others on the market, including the ones I sell. I would get the harness as well, you'll be glad you did. Remember the 8K bulbs you will not get much light projected on the ground and actually won't be as bright as the halogens you have now. If you do not like the 8K you can always purchase the other color range bulbs. Also I'd try to find out if those are digital ballasts.

No not all of them. Like said earlier, the higher the K (Kelvin) rating the hotter the bulb which is what determines the color. The higher you go, the hotter the bulb. However in doing so, your light output is diminished. The brightest and cleanest K is going to be 5K. You will get a very clean and bright light. This will also produce a faint hue of blue in the bulb but not like say a 7k or higher would. I run everything I own with 5K bulbs and 55 watt ballasts. It is more light than I ever need. Every Offroad light that is available in HID such as Piaa or Hella etc... They all come in 5K temperature for a reason. That reason being the brightest with the most light output available.

thanks for the link on the projectors wish i knew of them years ago. that being said sneaky is right get the 5k bulbs you wont regret it. cant tell from the link you posted but most dual beam hids use a regular halogen glued to the hid for the high beam, so the hibeams are actually just a regular halogen some use a little motor that moves the bulb back to change its location within the reflector i personally have had them and like them better.
I am an over the road truck driver i drive all night every night so i see aftermarket hids every night the bluer ones really do not provide much light at all they look bright as hell when they are coming up on you but when they pass me i can see that there light output sucks. and just in case you have money to burn there is another solution that blows away hids, Led headlights its what i run in my semi truck http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs...0001&langId=-1

If you go to the junkyards often keep an eye on Hondas. I found two slim kits already on civics. Got them for $22 each kit. The racing scene is huge here in Chicago. all you see is imports on junkyards from police repossessions. My Hids ballasts are a year old and still going strong(from the junkyard). I don't know what brand they are tho. don't get any flickering or anything like that.

55w 8000k is awsome. slightely blue in the lens and almost pure white light. 55w 8000k looks like 35w 6000k only brighter

nice does it matter what ballast it is or does the bulb decide what color the lights are?

Bulb decides color. Like i said 55w 8000k looks like 35w 6000k only brighter. Going from 35w to 55w whitens the color by 2-3000k.
