Default HID Conversion for Off Road Lights

Has any one done this conversion? I ordered a set of off road lights from of all places harbor freight but they were only 9 bucks lol. I want to put green hids in them but not sure how to go about doing the conversion. They currently have 100watt H3 bulbs in it so I know I need a H3 hid kit but havent messed with hids before. So what am I getting into hear lol.

Seriously are you wanting good light output or do you just want to look cool?

You know you can't actually have offroad lights turned on while driving around town, right? If you're not going to use them for offroading, there's really no need to waste money on green lights because you won't be able to use them. If you're doing fog lights, you're not technically supposed to have those turned on when driving on the road either, but you might be able to get away with it (not that I advise this.)

I just installed HIDs in place of my headlamps, and I went with 6000k bright white ones.

Note that you do any HID conversions at your own risk. They're not DOT approved and you might be a police magnet waiting to happen. Colors are the most obvious – I'd stay away from anything not in between 4300k-6000k.

You would need the hid bulbs and ballasts. That's it. You just need to make sure you can get the new hid bulb to go into the fogs that's gonna be the most PITA part.

A fellow I know locally out green hids in his super duty they look mean

Kool thats what Im going for. As long as the lights are headlight level or below the NCDOT handbook states the you can have 4 running light on the front of the vehicle. Btw my step mothers new explorer has fog lights that run with her headlights and my dads new F150 also has a set of fogs that run with his headlights.

I did almost the exact thing you're doing: using HF lights and converting them to HID. Look at post #4 of my build thread. I personally went with 4300K as that is where the light is white and not blue. Purely functional and, yes, totally illegal. I'm only going to use mine on country roads and off-road.

The fogs will always run with the headlights.

But you will notice that if you switch your high beams on the fogs will go off until you switch the highs off again.

Why not? I run 6000k iirc, and its a very very white light, minimal blue.

Got my HID Projectors from NorCalMR2.com/store and they are absolutely amazing.
