I have run 6000k, it has to much color. The higher the temp the cooler the light. Unless your looking for pretty looking lights, it is pointless to go high then 5000k as the is no performance advantage, just a disadvantage.

4300K is oem factory white. It is the purest white you will get.

5000k is a clear looking diamond white.

I personally recommend 4300k but 5000k is a good temp also.

Why not go over 5000k? I'm running 6000k and as long as you get a high quality bulb, they won't be blue:

6000k is supposed to be categorized as "bright white" and it's difficult to tell the difference between 5000k and 6000k.

Above 6000k and you start getting into the cool blue colors.

Looks alot like my light output.

I wondered if it were quality issues...

By all means don't going by ebay charts. Thats chart doesnt even show 5000. Beside the bulbs in kits do vary. And some kits with higher wattage will come out whiter. Chinese kits are not all made to exact proper spec. So why chance a 6000 and end up with something overly blue when you can just go 4300 or 5000. I mean it there, why purposely go higher. Why do you think car manufacturers don't use temps that high? For one, as all HIDs age, they will burn bluer, so starting higher will get to darker blues sooner.

My old 6000k kit looked almost purple after 3 years in my old race car

I'm not going by ebay charts. I'm going by the 6000k HIDs that I installed in my own Jeep, picture above. I posted this chart so people looking into this conversation can get an idea about how higher quality HID bulbs aren't going to be some cheap Chinese ricer blue and don't get the wrong idea here.

My father's Toyota has had the same HID kit that I ordered for more than just a couple years and it hasn't changed "bluer" one bit.

I say go as white as you can get it – if you're going to go with pricey HIDs, then why settle for a halogen-like color?

From what I was told by my boss who was a Blackhawk helicopter test pilot (yeah, she's a badass) blue helps the human eye see through fog better. It makes things contrast more. I told her about my lights when I first got them, she brought in a pair of her old flight glasses she used, blue lenses. She sas right, things struck me as more clear on a foggy day.

So a slight blue tint seems to be nice. Mine are still a really hot white, minimal blue in the very extreme edges.

I have projectors, not just bulbs tho. Maybe thats yet another reason mine work so well.

It depends on the power of the lights you get. 35w 6000k lights have a little bit of blueish tint to them. If you get the 55w 6000k version the light output is generally whiter.

Iv heard this before but didnt really understand it until now. You gave a good explanation better then I got when I asked why blue lighting helped in fog. I was just told they just do lol.
