I've got a 85 cherokee 2.8. Somethings wrong with my 4 wheel drive. I can put it in 4 wheel drive its seems to lock it. When I drive it in 4 low it rides like its in and goes slow with high rpms like it should all but the front wheels don't pull. Its like its just in 2 wheel drive. The front driveshaft turns and all. Wats goin on guys? Help me plz

Sounds like the axle disconnect isn't working. Could be as simple as a vacuum leak.

The disconnect works with vacuum. When you put the t-case in 4wd it puts vacuum on the shift motor which moves a fork on a collar and connects the two piece axle in the passenger side. With an open diff if it doesn't get connected the inner shaft has the least resistance and spins and the driver side just sits there.

First you'll need to find out what the actual prob is. On my YJ the vacuum off the motor dry rotted so all I had to do was fix that. Google search jeep disconnect axle and you'll find tons of info. It's technical name is Central Axle Disconnect or CAD.
