For a bastard pack you will need a set of S10 leaf springs, alignment pins and leaf pack clamps. Cut the eyelets off of the S10 leaf springs and break down your Cherokee's spring packs. Replace all but the top leaf with the S10 pack and use your leaf clamps to hold it in place. Use the alignment pin to bolt the pack to your spring and use the leaf clamps on each side. Put it all back together.
The budget boost is definitely cheap. I personally like shackles instead of add a leaf kits.
IMO 3" lift coils for the front and bastard packs in the rear should give you a consistent 3" lift on the cheap. I'm sure someone can chime in on JY coils if you don't want to spend 100 bucks on new ones.

Here is a cheap way to lift, they sell 2 and 3 inch BBs. The 3 inch lift will need new shocks though

HMMMMM i do like the sound of that, but only question i have is, since im keeping the stock suspension parts, am i getting anymore usable articulation, or will i have the same movement, just a 2" taller jeep??(this is directed at all block lifts, this just made me think of it) And what is the difference of that kit and shackle kit from rusty's other then the $40 higher price.
also, razor, so i would just need the bastard leafs in the back jy coils in front, or would i also need new shocks or anything else?? is there a good thread on this that you could give me a link to, so i don't have to keep asking so many questions lol.
still just exploring options, i would like to spend under 150 lifting the jeep so anymore cheap ideas or welcome.

IMHO blocks are pretty much useless. It isn't so much gaining suspension travel as much as gaining ground clearance. The only use they have is if you are selling a car with sagging rear springs...
before

after

If you plan on lifting your Jeep any more then 1.5" then you will need new shocks. I have heard that JK shocks combined with bastard packs and coil springs would make a nice affordable lift.
I will say that if you have sagging suspension now just the mere act of replacing the old crap will lift up your Jeep. I ended up with a mild 1.5" lift and replaced all my stock suspension. I have Grand Cherokee springs on front and standard duty Cherokee leaves on back with a Tereflex 1.5" budget boost shackle and coil spring spacer lift. I probably gained 2.5-3" from before if you count the sag.

i do kind of like the idea of being able to say i made my own lift and all. so what all would i need (full parts lift if you can) to do the bastard pack, and the YJ lift. ill go check out a pick n' pull this weekend and see if they have what i need. oh and about how long does it take to do all install, i can assemble the leafs and stuff in advance, so im just looking for a ballpark estimate of install time, i can only have a mess outside for 1 day due to our ****ty H.O.A.

The bastard packs are easiest assembled with the top leaf still installed. There are a few write ups with pictures on how to do it. The coils are an easy swap if you know the trick... What I did (and I can't remember where I heard it from...)
with no prior experience you should be able to tackle it all in a weekend.
- Jack up the front end and support the frame with jack stands and remove the tires
- unbolt the bottom of the shocks and the spring retention bracket
- slowly lower the jack and move it to one side
- Jack up one side until the suspension is all the way up on the one side. The opposite side's spring should come out with a little effort.
- after replacing the spring with the new one slowly lower the jack and repeat the process for the other side.
- after lowering move jack back to center and compress suspension enough to bolt everything back up and install wheels.
- Jack up to remove stands then slowly lower vehicle....

Cost? Depends on how cheap you can get your S10 springs. Alignment pins aren't much neither are clamps.
I would venture to say probably around $50. Lift shackles are going to set you back around $100
