Hey guys, I've decided to teach myself to weld. Nothing too technical just some basic fabrication, maybe a few floor pans. From my research and limited knowledge I think I want a gas Mig setup. I like the dual voltage setup on this one. What do you guys think?

Bad link. Look into eastwood welders if you want something good and at an awesome price.

1. My garage has 110v ( this is where most of my tinkering takes place)
2. I have access to 220v at work if I really need it.
3. I want to be able to weld up to 3/16 steel if I need to.
4. Not many manufactures have a dual input setup
I have the miller 211 duel plug and i love it .. the lincoln version is a good one also .. Just remember the lincoln is over rated .. ( need to have it turned up higher then it says ) the miller is under rated , mine is rated for 1/4in but if i have it set on 1.4 it will blow holes .. i have to have it set on 1/8 to weld 1/4 with full penetration ..

I had a Craftsman 110V machine and it really didn't work very well. I was getting varying degrees of success and it was very inconsistent. I was having a difficult time telling if it was my technique or the welder that was giving me fits.
I ended up buying a Hobart Handler 187 at Tractor Supply for about $600 or so. Looking at their site it looks like they now have a 190 instead for $650. It is a 220V machine so I wired an outlet for the 220. It made a HUGE difference. I got much more constancy and I can weld 1/4" easily. In fact my first project was a rear bumper made from 1/4" square tubing.
Good luck.
