89 XJ front axle making horrific grinding noise and feels like axle is going to twist off completely after 12 years heavy abuse on a d30 can't complain too much I guess...but needing to know if there are any direct swap upgrades for front axles from any other donor 'jy' vehicles? If some modification needed what would be needed? Thinking d40 or bigger? Sky's limit!! Any help??

 

80-91 waggy 44's are good upgrade

 

If money or time is tight a simple '96+ Dana 30 will be an upgrade with the one piece axle and larger u joints. Can typically get them for around 100. Took me a good day to swap mine out on my '88.

13b front and rear.

 

5 ton military axles or unimog if the sky is the limit.Real world depends do you want full width axles or almost stock width?
