Headliner Help
Hey guys I'm looking to do a custom headliner with new military camo, tomorrow I'll take out the headliner tray thing but I have a couple questions, how do I take out the center light up top, also do I scrape the foam material off or just spray the glue and put the material on over it. Oh it's a 93
Thanks guys

Center light ? in the middle of the jeep or the rear? if so, i just popped the headliner out around it. i think you can un screw it too. for the old foam i used a shop vac with a brush attachment.

for the light you just pop the white plastic lense off and there are two pins with metal washer like clips that are pressed on to them. just work the clips down far enough to get a set of plyers on them and then just pull the clips off with the plyers. when you put the light back on you can just flaten the clips and shove them back on. there tinny so try not to mangle them when you get them off.
both lights come off that way.

on the lights he is right, they are press fit rings. dont lose them as most stores dont have them (i pulled a bunch from the JY)
on the foam. Take a course bristle brush and get the board clean you just want the backing board.
as far as reinstalling the head liner, do not pre cut your holes and leave excess material along all the sides.
lay the material over the board, find the half way point, fold over then spray the head liner material and the backing board and slowly start applying making sure there is no wrinkles or creases. then once you got it on how you like pat it on making sure that it is good and tight, then repeat process on the other side.
a small recommendation is when you do the other side, when it is folded over pull the material back a little farther and unseat the newly glued end so you have a bit of glue over lap.
once it is where you would like take a knife and cut an X for the light (corner to corner type deal) and the on the triangle pieces glue then to the back of the backing board. it will give you the best fit n finish.
on the edges you can either cut or fold over and glue to the back (i folded over and glued to the back)
on the front you cannot cut it though it has to be folded over the edge and glued to the back due to not having a trim piece
sorry if that is confusing. if you have questions ask away .
