I'm having my head rebuilt on my 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0. The shop I dropped it off at did the vacuum test on it and said more then one valves were leaking or something like that. They also said that if they had to resurface the valves it might leak or burn oil...? It wasn't doing that before I dropped it off why would it do it after a rebuild? Im confused

I no nothing about this process. I took it out, dropped it off and told them what was wrong and they said they would fix her up. I stopped by there today and been stressing what they told me.

The usual is to have the head resurfaced (milled, shaved), valve job (cleans and resurfaces to ensure good seal) and new valve seals (keeps oil from getting into combustion chamber) All this makes it as good as new. Almost forgot magnafluxing (checks the head for cracks) HTH.
