Default i still have not found a jeep.

well i have been looking for a nice-ish 97-01 jeep cherokee for a few months now and i have yet to find any thing good.

either they are the year i want with a ton and a half of miles, or they are the older one with almost no miles.

but the problem i find is

a. cherokees are hard to find compared to GC and wranglers
b. if you find one it is always over priced for what you are getting

but i found one i like but i am almost sure it is an online scam.
but here is the picture, if it is some ones here that would be funny.

Name: jeep1.JPG
Views: 171
Size: 54.6 KB

but what could you guys tell me about the rims, tires, and lift.

this is exactly what i want.

thanks.

Why, what do you think you are getting?

As far as price that simply good old supply & demand. If something is overpriced for market conditions it will never sell vs. something at or below market price can sell within minutes.

ETA: What are they asking for the Cherokee that's pictured ~ $8k?

Never hurts to look. The owner might not know what they have. The tires look like goodyear dura trac. if so theres a $1000 worth of tires on it. The wheels look like a newer model stock jeep wheels.

From the pic it looks like around 3.5" - 4" of lift. The wheels are from a tj rubicon. The front tires are goodyear wrangler mtr(which is no longer made) and i can't tell exactly what kind the rear are but they are not the same as the front.

Is this listed by a car dealer? $2500 may be the down payment.

2 years ago I bought an unmolested 2001 Sport w/ 120k for 4k. It needed only basic maintance items and tires. I don't think your looking in the right places or at the right time. Try Craigslist & Autotrader as well you'll find the best deals through private party especially if they need quick cash.

I feel your pain. Craigslist seems to be filled with people with 99-01 XJs with 180,000 miles, asking for $4,500. And those are private parties, not dealers.

I just kind of sucked it up and got a 96 with 120k for $1,800.

Don't over look the 93-98 Grand Cherokee. Most were adult owned and in great shape.

Took me a couple months and I got lucky. found a '93 GC with the expected garbage paint on the hood and dead lift gate struts, but perrrrrrrfect leather interior, newer tires, headliner NOT coming off everywhere, door handle foam NOT disintegrated, one owner. Wonder if they replaced the upholstery at some point, since there is not a rip, tear or scratch on it. Did have a stuck brake light switch though.

But you're right, most I see around here are about $2,600 for 180K miles, 96-2003 with completely destroyed leather (EVERY single one), dead lift gate struts and dead window struts, busted transaxel, no reverse, only has 2nd/3rd gear, or worst of all, 2wd.

i am not discouraged, but looking around and calling and emailing theses people make me sad, because they are either mean to you like your money is no good, or they are nice and are fake. but i will keep looking till i find the right one.

my dream would be any color but green
4.0L 2wd or 4wd, dont care
alloy rims not the steel ones
black and grey interior, not the tan one-yuck
and all painted exterior parts, no black plastic.
cloth seats are fine
and it can all be stock with less than 150000 miles on it

how does that sound? is that doable for less than $4000?

and most importantly what trim level does that sound like?

thanks!
