Hello all, as far as the xj vs tj issue. my wife drove a 05 tj for 7 years, no problems, mileage was comparable to the xj. The only reason we got rid of it was she wanted something new, we moved up to a jk, (she likes it, but i can't stand it!) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder lol!

Personally, the only Wrangler I'd ever consider owning would be a YJ (love square head lights!) the main issue I have with Wranglers isn't the vehicle itself, but the majority of the crowd that surrounds it. All the rich mall crawlers around here look down on every other vehicle because their circular head lights and removable top makes them "superior". Don't get me wrong though, some of the Wrangler guys are cool.
Sorry for the rant.

Ive owned both a YJ and TJ. The top off and doorless feel is nice but overall I still enjoy wheeling my XJ better. It just feels so at home on the trails and easily carries my giant cooler and all my tools. I wouldnt mind picking up another YJ similar to Tom's though and have a Jeep for whatever mood Im in that day.
I loved my TJ but I felt it wasnt worth the difference in money for my uses of it, considering stock for stock my XJ has better front/rear axles, more suitable wheelbase/cargo room, and the coil/leaf combo makes for a pretty stable offroader. Not that my TJ was junk, it was a very capable ride and got a lot of looks, I just didnt feel I really "got my moneys worth" by comparison. I would certainly own another though, Im open minded to anything I can wheel.

I own a 2000 TJ right now (trying to sell). Its fun to drive, and I have no real complaints about ride quality or anything. It is the 4 cyl, which to me isn't a bad little motor. It's got 2 inches of lift and 33x10.50 BFGs and can run 70 on the highway no problem.
The reason I went XJ. Just got tired of the wind noise and interior space. I also like having a ride that doesn't feel like I'm driving in a tin can. Now that I have an XJ I would never want another wrangler.

I love my Yj , I am having a blast wheeling a stock rig cause the Xj makes it too easy.
But this weekend I gotta replace the heater core cause it started to leak today. But Atleast I don't have to pull the dash to do it lol
