talk me out of it...
32 grand?
for one of these?

if thats for a 10th anniversary thats a good deal considering they just came out, but thats still 32 freakin grand.
you know which engine it has in it right? 3.6 pentastar v6. it has decent power, but its mostly top end and not much low end torque. also i would do some research on the head problems the 3.6s are having right now. we get a lot of head replacements for these engines because of the valve seat design. yeah its covered under warranty but do you really want to drop your car off at a dealer, have your new jeep be down for some time and have someone open up your new wrangler? yeah these jeeps are sweet but they are pretty expensive for what you get.

XJ vs JK? Should be an easy choice imo. Comparing a vehicle that has been proven to be durable, reliable, and very capable to an overpriced, and overly Chrysler influenced version of what they think a Jeep should be? There's no comparison. Keep the real Jeep, the XJ. The 4.0 should be enough reason on its own to pick an XJ over the JK.

^this! spend 30K on a xj and I can bet my left nut it'll do better than that rubi stock, heck only a 1K to get the 249 t-case, that still leaves you 29K for engine upgrade/rebuild, cage, bumpers, tires, suspension(linked front and rear?) etc....
compare to spending 46K and then spending another 5k-15K to get it really good.
in the end its about your decision, but imho id rather save money and just upgrade the xj

249? I thought Rubicons had a 241 with 4:1 low range? Or was that just the TJ and LJ?
Regardless, for what the Rubicon 4:1 case costs, I could build an NP231/D300 doubler with a 4:1 low in the 300, and throw that in the XJ. Atlas 4 speed gearing with nowhere near the cost.

random thought, what if you had a 4:1 in the 231 and a 4:1 in a 300, what gearing would that be?!?!?
yup my bad, meant the 241 that the rubi's have, and I would guess it depends on location since here a 300 runs for $500 at least and the adapter plates are spendy and the 4:1 is spendy for it too.

4:1 in only the 300 would give you 1:1, 2.72:1, 4:1, and 10.88:1.
