I own one...so...

They aren't that great for heavy duty stuff, but they get light duty jobs done quite well.

I've done plenty of exhaust jobs with mine, and my floor pans as well as misc stuff around the shop.

With all that said, I was about to drop $800 on a much better one. Although I wasn't gonna sell my HF 90amp.

Make sure you can use gas with it. Flex core is much harder to learn on.

Get the extended warranty, btw. I haven't had to use mine, but you never know...

The base flux core welder is decent, can weld pretty good if you are skilled, flux core is a messy weld though get used to going over it with a sander to make it look good...

Thanks for the responses, I'm looking at a few, and hopefully this deal for a Lincoln goes thru from a friends father in law, it'll be the same as the hf one on price so I'd obviously rather have that ha, but beggars can't be choosers right?

I have a 90 and it isn't bad. I use Lincoln tips and flux wire. I also put a capasitor on the drive, so it feeds a little smoother. I got the size cap. off one of the welding forums. You will do some grinding though. A lot a splatter with flux core.

With welders you REALLY get what you pay for.

I will leave it at that . . .

I don't know man.... I bought a little 90 amp harbor freight welded used for 60$, since I had a 240 Lincoln I didn't much care for the HF one, so I decided to see how long it would weld before it burnt up- I was welding just on 1/2" plate for exactly 34 mins with the little thing cranked all the way up. Not only did it NOT burn up,but it welded really good to. I even used it to weld on all my mounts on my 8.8. Lots of spatter though, id say it welds equivalent to a 135 Lincoln running off gas. Remember, its not the welder that makes good welds, its the person welding.

See thats what I wondered, how long it would hold up with continuous use, thanks for the info. I found one used for 80, I've welded in the past a little and I'm not too good but I'm determined to do it, I have plenty of grinder blades lol
