I wanted to see how every one is making their gutter mounts and what they are using to do it. I have a plan to redneck engineer a light bar for my jeep out of some metal I have. It probably wont look the best but who cares lol.

 

The mounts I got are from JCR, they were around 40 bucks for four.

 

Wanted to make my own since I have the metal and wanted to save some money lol

 

make a plate drill some holes use self tapping screws to affix to roof dont mounts made easy. thats whay the po did to my cb mount on my rig and you know it works well

 

So your saying drill thru the roof?

 

I understand that! That's why I made my roof rack!

 

I heard that sadly I dont have the right stuff to make a roof rack but iv got some 2x4 sheet metal studs and a big 2x6 sheet metal stud thats pretty stiff that I got for free so I figured NEW PROJECT! lol

 

I'd personally just buy the mounts, and weld them to whatever you're building. I have a set of the JCR gutter mounts waiting on me to build a rack for them.

But, if you're determined to make your own mounts too, they wouldn't be hard to make. Put two pieces of steel together, drill a hole through them both, tap one of them, and get a bolt to fit it. Then just bolt them together on the gutter so they clamp on. Take a look at the JCR mounts, and build something similar imo.

 

EXACTLY!!! you said redneck engineer! it works im not joking i have a cb whip mount self tapping screwed into my roof over my gutters thanks to the po

 

Lol very tru I did say that but I dont like the thought of drilling the roof at least until I do my cage
