How does everyone look at their speedometer at the moment of impact so they know how fast they are going. I should think they'd be straight armed and looking at the object they are about to hit. At least that's what I think I'd be doing... Human nature if you will... Stomping on the brakes scrubs off a lot of forward momentum, both before and during the impact. Had Muddeprived not hit his brakes it would have been a much different story.
Lucky.

I always go the speed limit and it was 55 on that road so I know I was going 55. I'm religious with the speed limit. I hit the brakes like 2 seconds before impact.

Off topic but... Thanks for your Tech write-ups Muddeprived. I have read them all. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you.
You do more with your $50 set of Stanley tools in a year than most people with Snap-on and compressors do in 10 years!
Thanks
Mike

Damage estimate is $911 without taking off the bumber. Once it's in the shop next week they will look for hidden damage.

Thanks for eveyone's comments. I'll let you know if anything else is found.

Jeep is fixed and looks perfect. There wasn't any additional damage that we could find after removal of the bumper, etc. I'm trying to decide whether to stick all the Jeep logos & emblems back on the tailgate. It looks pretty good with nothing on it.
