Got rear-ended
My '02 GC Overland got rear ended over the weekend. Traffic stopped at an exit ramp and the person behind me didn't. Got hit by a Ford Escape doing about 45 mph. I was either stopped or just rolling to a stop. Rear bumper totaled & some minor damage to the tailgate. Can't say that for the Escape - what a mess!!!.
Tailgate works ok and was able to complete my 300 mile trip. Just wondering if I should have the drive train checked since it an AWD? Any other thoughts?

Ouch. Hope the other guy had insurance. I'd have a shop check everything out, thoroughly. Don't sign anything or agree to anything until you have it checked.
BTW...that includes your physical condition. Whiplash injuries can take a while to manifest themselves.

Thanks for your well wishes everyone. Glad it was a small car that hit us. Funny part was that I saw her coming & we braced ourselves & waited & waited for the jolt. Finally there was a lot of noise but no jolt. It appeared she just bounced off us!!! I guess that says something for the integrity of the GC.
Their insurance company called me & set up an appointment with their estimator this week. Looks like everything should work out OK. Plus my good friend owns a body shop & he'll make sure everything is A-OK.

Isn't your state a no-fault state? I should think you'd want to call your own insurance company to look at it not the guys who hit you. They have every reason to estimate low since they are paying the bill. Did you have full coverage (collision)? Did you report it to your insurance company?

If you got hit at 45 mph---- & never felt a jolt----- & only recieved bumber damage & minor damage to the lift gate something is not adding up trust me you would have felt something even at 5-10 mph
& the crush zone to the rear of a GC is set at 25mph
you must have pictures of both cars somewhere

Try this reasoning about the statement "the crush zone to the rear of a GC is set at 25mph". If you get hit by a motorcycle at 25mph is it the same as getting hit by a Semi Truck at 25mph?

u should bring ur gc to ur buddys shop and have the estimator meet u there. its easier 4 a shop to argue over damages and hours to fix than u. they generally try to calculate it as low as possible to save the company money

I don't think so...
F=M*A The GC in question is meant to absorb a given Mass hitting it at a given acceleration (speed) with the passenger compartment collapsing at a given rate until all the energy is dissapated. Preferrably saving or minimizing injury to the occupants in doing so.

yeah jeeps are tough..especially with after, arket steel bumpers...bwahahah..my friend tried to show me up in his lifted F150...rear ended me at a stop light doing 15mph and it dented his brush gaurd, pushed it into the bumper and crumpled that, pushed the gaurd into his bug shield and shattered that and scratched the hell out of his hood..a little of the herculiner on my bumper chipped off and that was it..lol
hope you stay ok..insurance sucks..if they total it, buy it back and use the extra $$$ to build it up!!
