im looking to build a fishing rod rack for the front of my xj. my plan is to get a curt front hitch then buy a pintle hook mount like this this


mount some 2x4s to the pintle hook and then attach a set of four rod classic rod holders to them.
i dont really want to buy a rod rack thats mounted to the bumper because id like to be able to remove it and most pre fab'd rod racks are expensive and i dont really need 8 rod holder racks.

my question is has anyone done something like this/ will it work? are their better options? am i retarded? thanks for reading ya jam boy
