The story is in the thread 'worst stuck moment' maybe 3/4 of the way through.
Haven't seen that thread in a while however.

Haven't had my XJ stuck where I couldn't get myself out of without the winch, had to use the winch and my Hi-Lift a same one time to pull in 2 directions at once though.

As far as a stock Jeep my 2004 GC "Overland" 4.7HO is a very capable on and off road not HD off road stock height limiting. But mud, snow, climbing, rocks with both locked (stock) differentials with full skid plates help when deciding to go when or where.

STUCK UNABLE TO MOVE

Back to 1985 and a new Chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 3 mo. old my wife and I went to check cattle on a farm we had 160 ac. of pasture rented on. A creek flowed through the center of the property and a low point crossing of only a few ft. deep we had been using for several weeks had to be crossed. A few days earlier we had had rains but the water had went down to normal (this farm was 12 mi from ours).

Little did we know that there and downstream there had been very heavy rain. We started across the crossing at the same angle as always only to find the channel had changed drastically and the truck dropped the frontend off the new edge till hood was completely underwater. Truck died of course, water came into cab up past seat bottoms but below dash, thank god and there new sat. Oh yes this was Dec. and water was very cold soooooo climbed out couldn't open door water to swift on wife's side and walked to the neighbors shed a 1/2 mi. away and borrowed his tractor and a chain.

Returned to the truck and pulled it out along with the wife, we won't go there but she steered it back up where the pasture entrance was and we left it. Went back to drop off tractor and he took us home and I called a tow truck. Went to the garage when they started on it about 30 mins. after it got there. First thing was to pull plugs and crank over well all came out well nothing a few hundred bucks didn't take care of.

When it finally started water shot the exhaust at least 25-30' all over their shop. Needless every bit of fluid in the truck had to be changed in fact I did it twice again in 2 days just to be sure, after all it was new.

Ouch, poor Chevy didn't know what hit it. But at least it was fixable.

Alright, I'm still alive, still looking at Jeeps, the green Classic got sold. There's a red Classic but it needs a couple dent fixes and an entire windshield repair...

Unsure of what I want to do.

Don't give up looking for classics and limiteds. You feel so good knowing that your xj is the nicest one around town haha. They're more unique. People always tell me they've like never seen a white on white jeep haha

Alright, so I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks, hopefully be getting that Classic I'm talking about... now there's just one more problem on the list...

... a name.

Ideas? I'll be thinking of a few myself, but if you guys got any cool names you could think off. I'm thinking of "Trouble" right now because how much it's gonna cost me time & money wise. xD

I call my gold trail Jeep: "The Gold Jeep"

I call my green DD Jeep: "The Green Jeep"

Or if I'm in a hurry I call them both: "The Jeep"

Because names are for hamsters.

LOL...

In all seriousness IF you're going to name your jeep, do what I do when I get a new dog...bring it home and wait a few days and let the personality decide the name....Trouble is probably fairly accurate, however, LMAO
