Make sure you do your research so you can make an informed decision. I see far to many people who think they got a good deal on a lifted Cherokee and it ends up being a cobbled mess. Don't be into such a hurry to find one that you pick the wrong one. The right one for you will come along.

I thought I was the only person that liked a nice stock XJ...Have you looked in Auto Traders or do most of your searching online?

Bigger doors = More room to get in and out, Long Rear Windows, Sportier looking and just plain awesome to me. :-D

Just search craigslist, and look at what's sitting in people's yards. Search other nearby cities on craigslist too. Plenty of deals out there. Got my 2 door for $500, found a very nice 2 door for a buddy of mine on craigslist that he got for $800 delivered to his house, and my roommate got an MJ for $350. And I found a couple nice XJs for under $1000 not too long ago on craigslist around Atlanta. Deals are out there.

def buy a stocker and build it urself. i wouldn't trust anyones build either, unless i knew them. def be patient as a 2 dr will be alittle harder to find.
good luck.
I allmost made the mistake of getting rid of mine for a fox body stang too. only because i have 3 explorer/mountaineer upr and lwr intakes. and i wanted to install it on one. but i just couldn't let her go...lol.

Check the government auction web sites, you can find some well cared for low mileage Cherokees if you look hard enough.

if theres one thing I've learned through all my CL searching and trying to find cherokees, it's that there will always be another jeep just like the one you're looking at. be picky. I usually surf craigslist for a few months before buying an xj
