That's not my point. I love mine. The point is it's not that great for a small diesel in a small suv.

I'm sure there are things that can be done to improve mileage similar to what we do with our xj. But with a starting base of around 24mpg there is plenty of room for improvement to get to 30mpg!!!

I had my 2.3l Turbodiesel Ranger up to right at 30 no matter how I drove it just by messing with the throttle body and intake.. it can be done.

I was looking at the uk jeep site and if I remember right the patriot 2.2 diesel gets 48mpgs....I don't know if the liter and weight difference make that much.....but having spent time on both sides of the pond I feel like euro diesels do a lot better on economy......I guess it could be that increased demand led to increased tech though

Our EPA is what kills the MPG on diesels with the added pollution controls, like particulate filters, EGR Valves etc just kill the performance and fuel mileage improvements that a diesel would see over a gas engine.

Your post reminded me of an article I found online.. theres a few "special edition" jeeps in it, and that cool overlands in there too. Out of them all, the overlands the one I reckon Id go for..

Not exactly cheap,
I just got a quote on the Zebra stripes in vinyl.
36"x120" $180.00 ($6 square foot)
Then I'm not sure I like the symmetry of the pattern.
I may just have to knuckle down and work out a pattern
by hand and just flat black the stripes with a rattle can.

BTW I found Smooth Reverse Steel wheels like that up
to 17" and 12" wide if you really wanted.
