Hello, and I can't find anything on this subject so I thought I would ask the question. I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee XJ here in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emerites. I want to bring it back to the USA with me when I leave. The VIN says it was made in America in the Toledo Ohio plant. SO....I shouldn't have any problem bringing it back to it's homeland.....BUT, I hear that some are made for Export, and some are made to stay in the states. Does anyone know what the differance between export models and models for USA are ? I want to start making it complient with the USA specs IF there are things that it needs. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can toss my way.

Knowing Jeep, I'd be willing to bet there really wouldn't too much difference between the two. Given how simplistic the platform is. From all factory options available just waiting for you finish, to being able to even mingle generations together.

Looked around and found this for you though.....

Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle
A vehicle taken from the United States for non-commercial, private use may be returned duty free by proving to CBP that it was previously owned and registered in the United States. This proof may be a state-issued registration card for the automobile or a bill of sale for the car from a U.S. dealer. Repairs or accessories acquired abroad for your vehicle must be declared on your return and may be subject to duty.
