Has anyone figured this out yet? I've been searching all morning and want to whip up a rack today, but I've seen nothing using the rain gutter mount style, want to fab my own mounts as well. And I kind of want to go over board, and mimic the Olympic 4x4 Tophat style, with rails coming down the sides of the rack too.

I'm doin some looking into this and I've found the JCR gutter mounts can be easily mounted and welded.
Here's my question?
What size EMT are most folks using and how rigid is this stuff.
I was thinking about using 3/4" square stock, but it's on the pricey side for what quantities I need.
I'm still a wee bit skeptical on this EMT.
Can anyone sell me on this and I'll continue working on the mounting situation with the gutter mounts from JCR.
They don't look like they have enough length from the gutter mount to the bend that it would sit very high.
Thoughts, opinions?

Bossokee,
Thank you very much. that is exactly the rack I'm going to build.
On my 94, I had some different gutter mounts that were bolted to my rack. I was a fool and sold the Jeep with the rack, but I have since found another set of the exact same gutter mounts.
I will be getting them shortly and figuring out how I'm going to do this rack.
BustedKnuckle,
I will be doing a build thread on this when I get all the parts needed. Stay tuned.

That would be fantastic...I'm wondering if you can take the EMT and flatten and roll the edges maybe to make the cross bars? I was looking at the JCR mounts, but I'm not sure how much I like the LACK of mounting surface.
Thanks and more pics would be appreciated!!

Yes you can definately do that, thats actually how I attached the cross bars on the cage itself. I stuck the end of the tube into a vice and crimped the whole end flat, just make sure you get both ends of the tube parallel and you can easily lay the tube onto two flat surfaces for a cross bar and weld them into place.
