Default Electrical and wiring

Is there a place to find the layout of the under the dash fuse panel. Possibly a schematic. I was paging thru the manual but didn't finish when I thought of you guys. Rear wiper has quit, and some of the dash lights as well. I'm not really a circuit guy.I suppose some of the Renix thread could be helpful as well.

I could not locate the main ground point mentioned in the Renix thread. There isn't anything around the dipstick that looks like a ground point. But I havent looked lately.

The dash lights are probably just burned out with age,Look in to replacing them with leds like http://www.onewaylight.com/1984-2001...ent-light-set/

andrewmp6, thanks for the tip. I'm not an electronics guy but have a basic understanding of using a multimeter . How much hassle is it to remove all the necessary dash stuff? I don't do that sort of thing much. But the kit seems like a good idea.

Not bad at all, I have the onelight LED dash kit. It's nice. It's a couple panels and a hand full of screws. If you have ever put an aftermarket CD player in a car, you're more than qualified.

Removing the cluster is one of the easiest things done on these XJs.
Here's a video on how to remove the cluster for later year XJs.
Probably applies to your '87 also.

That's encouraging. Thanks. I'll post how it goes.

on the rear wiper the motor for it could have gave up,Honestly check to see if the switch has power to it then does it have power at the rear wiper motor. If you don't have power at the wiper motor with the switch on but before the switch then it switch its bad,If you have power all the way at the wiper motor then its the wiper motor bad.Pray its the switch its cheaper and easier to replace lol

I have a 1990 cherokee that has a speed cable, not a sensor. I had never taken a cluster out of a jeep before but thought it would be pretty easy. Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the speed cable. If you don't disconnect it from the transfer case, remove the mount on the control arm, and then inch it through from underneath, go back in the cab and gently pull the cluster, you'll never get it out. Just letting you know in case you can't figure out why the cluster is moving freely but won't pull forward. I don't know if there's an easier way to do it, I was just figuring it out on my own lol. Good luck

yeah my 87 is the same way... it has a speed cable, besides taking off everything to get to the cluster. Make sure the connections on the cluster are off, might give you a little more leverage. Careful when squeezing the clamp, it can break... that is my pieces of advice
