Alright i wanna put a 3 inch lift on my xj with stock size tires....

There's this cool new thing called Google. If you go to it and type in "xj 3" lift stock tires" and then click on "Images" in the top left corner, you'll see at least 2 or 3 pics in that page that show what you're talking about.
Lastly, why do a 3" lift to keep stock tires? You'd be better off not doing a lift and moving to 29" or 30" tires. Bigger tires will increase straight line ground clearance, a lift will not. Articulation is every bit as important as height up to a point. Also, a lift with stock street tires is probably going to leave you stuck in mud, sand, or rocks, while a stock suspension with some decent off-road tread will get you through some stuff. You could have a 12" lift, but if you have no traction you're screwed.

I have 3.5 in front and 4 in the rear but you get the picture. the pic on the left is 225's and the right is 31's. I knew i should of went bigger!

Yep, that'll look stupid as hell. How about wait until you can install it all together.
