Default Detailing the engine compartment?

What's the best way to do this? What to watch out for? I need to get all the mud and crap gone.

Default What I am doing wrong??

I had the engine steam cleaned about some years ago. A few days later I had to have the TPS and the ECM replaced. (3 car wash places refused to do it - said that they were two many problems with Jeeps sensors).

I used Simple Green and did it myself a few weeks ago. A few days later again, I had to have the TPS, and 2 O2 sensors changed.

just be careful and not spray water in the intake, distributor, underhood fuse box, and all sensors.

when i do mine, i will leave the jeep running, that way i can hear if the jeep starts to run differently, and i know whatever i'm spraying doesn't like the water. but spray with caution.

and yeah, simple green is good. unless you're in a shop with a floor drain and filter, then you could use some stronger degreaser.

Engine Brite works well too. I don't use the foaming version, I found the regular stuff works better...
