Thanks everyone. Got bigger fish to fry right now. Was driving today in 100 degrees and my temp gauge went into the red. I stopped immediately. When I turned it back on the temp was fine. So I started driving. All of a sudden something blew up and smoke came from under the hood. Soonafter the engine lost power started makinga weird noise and died. There is a hole in the side of the radiator. Im told It looks like a head gasket, which means a new head also since I have a 2000. I just hope it ends at that so I dont need to get a new engine. What is an FF60 by the way?

Honesty it doesn't sound like a 60 but I've seen people build them with custom shafts with whatever bolt pattern. Usually use the bearings and ends off a ford 9" on a semi float housing. Then you basically have half ton strength with the clearance of a 60.

If i was gonna get a 60 and paying that kinda cash i would want a beefed up one. Did u put water back in it after it went into the red? I'm sure it was all evaporated. You can heat them up and they're usually alright but repeated heat ups is what kills the head/gasket. I think u should give it a try tho, you would be very surprised how straight forward the head gasket is on that 4.0.. Buy a haynes manual and thats pretty much all u need. U can rent the tools from autozone that u dont have. Get someone to help you lift that head off. It's worth a try cause it is way too expensive to pay a shop for something like that.
