You might not have to trim them much and still use the stock flares. My 32's fit on my 3 inch lift and rubbed very little in a hard turn. I trimmed some of the bottom corners of the inner fender and was golden.
But then I trimmed and went for the wide look.

On one of my xj's i had a 4.5 lift and 33 12x50. i just trimmed the back of the fender near the doors. and left the rears alone. i remounted the stock flares on with some bolts.

X2 for me as well. You'll most likely want to use a cutting wheel when doing it by the way.

None one will know exactly what he needs to do, because jeeps sit different. I would just suggest putting the tires on and trim accordingly. Unless of coarse you are set on getting bushwhackers then you can trim it up nice. Which is what I did on the front, haven't got to the back.

See I have skyjacker 3" but I have a pic sitting next to a 5.5 lift XJ and we are almost even. He has bushwhackers on his tho.
I did add shackles but that was to level it out.
I like the trimmed look. I was jsut throwing out the option of leaving the stock flares because he mentioned BW's
