Default custom steering and trac bar

i am looking into doing my own steering upgrade and custom track bar. i am going to be going OTK steering and OTA trac bar. i know i will need to remove my sway bar links don't have one anyway and i will need a new mount for the axle side of the trac bar. i have a rusty adj trac bar now and stock steering with DPA pushing 33's. i am looking to do this with the durango gear box swap also.

so my question is can i do heim joints on the track bar or do it need to be bushings? i read in a few spots that it don't matter and it does.

also when i do this i should build the steering first with the track bar i have now, then measure for the track bar once everything on the steering is built and build accordingly so the axle doesn't get off center.

thanks for the help guys in advance

Hopefully Chris froelich will post up here..he seems to be a steering goon.

As far as the heim question. I ran a heim on my last trac bar with no issues (on the frame side).

He is a good guy...and your right..he knows his stuff. Ill be helping build my custom 3 link in a month or less with the help of a buddy. Eventually they will be available to members and public once we get a website going etc.

Only thing I didn't like about heims was the I additional noise (popping, etc) but that's expected with a solid joint.

i think he said he that i would get the johnny joints for the track bar and 3 link so i am just trying to weigh my options as of now and see what is better i am thinking his kit is better bc it is all solid steel and the joints. adding everything up too is getting to just about his price if i went solid steel and heims or johnny

Technically you'd wanna do both at the same time...but install the steering then work on lining up the trac bar right away.

Want to build your own Bomb Proof Track Bar?

Use a piece of 2"x .250 wall D.O.M for a bushing sleeve on the axle side.

Use a TeraFlex Track Bar End on the frame side.

You'll need a threaded insert too.

You'll need an OTA Bracket.
