Simple problem: best place for cup holder is right over brake handle, but we need access to brake.
Solution: Move the "holes" a bit to the left/right, and leave an access gap where the holes used to be.

Easy in hindsight, but damn, what a brilliant idea to a maddening problem. That design is going to catch on!

My pops just got the cup holder in the mail and he is pretty impressed. He liked that it was a "soft" install with no drilling mounts. He has yet to put larger cups in it but has some concern that reverse gear may bump into a larger cup. He'll check it all out and take the photos you've requested.

So far so good for an AX-15!

Really? Are you serious buddy? The OP puts countless hours, product, and who knows what else into design and improvements and you get pissy when a forum member suggests you might want to respect all that effort and buy one rather than copy it. In my humble, take it or leave it opinion...if you like it, buy it and respect all of the effor the designer has put into the product.

It would not be difficult to simply move the holes back another inch to accomodate the manual transmission and larger cups. Although I really really want one if it is cheap enough. College kids have to stick to a budget ya know.

A couple other things I want to suggest. Just as an idea you could get some of that rubber edge trim and put it around the edges of the cupholder for added stability and a cleaner look. I realize its just a prototype but I thought I would just tell you. Also in my cherokee I have none stock seats that sit up maybe an inch higher than the originals. Is this cupholder going to interfere with non stock seats? I really truly think this is going to be great and you can put me on the waiting list for one as long as it isnt way out of my budget.

Thanks guys! Sorry I havent posted here lately. My wife just had sinus surgery Thursday and things have been a lil CRAZY round here. I am going to talk to a couple local manufacturers and see if they are interested in building a short run.(or long run depending on the feedback and their price) It takes me almost 2 hours to build these things. and thats 2 hours out of my days that seem like they need to be 6 hours longer. So, I dont want to price them too high just cuz I dont have time. I'm hoping I can find somebody to build them for me and leave me with some room for a little profit and keep the price down for the rest of you.

As far as giving up the pattern, probly not gonna happen. No offense.

Sell the pattern? Maybe.

before you sell anything, i would get a patent on it, they are cheap and you might just have found a super easy way to make cash, i wouldnt want anyone to steal it out from under you......Great design and hopefully itll take off and a company gives you some $$ for the design!!

i'm not getting pissy until now, all I asked was a simple question that no one but the OP has any business answering. This a forum where people show off things they make and usually give details on how to make them. He has never said anything about selling these. if he had i wouldn't have asked.

thank you. this is exactly my point. the OP has put lots of time and money into designing this. and though sometimes on this forum people share how they make a homemade snorkel or how they set up their light wiring, it has always been the way of things to not simply ask for the design of something that has taken someone hours and hours of work. I mean, there have been some great bumpers on here that people make and sell because people really dig the design. how rude would it be if after someone posted up a sweet bumper that they designed to just be like, "hey dude, can i steal your plans?". Its more just common courtesy. I didn't design this, and I know this guy knows what he is doing. So i will respect his work by offering to buy one from him rather than ask for his results and not acknowledge his efforts.

(see above)

I just don't want someone to spend so much time and effort on something like this and just have it be cheapened by someone wanting the design of it instead of wanting to buy one. its just respect in my opinion. I'm sorry if what i said offended you, I am just saying what I think because I know how i would feel if it were me as the designer.
