I mean, there have been some great bumpers on here that people make and sell because people really dig the design. how rude would it be if after someone posted up a sweet bumper that they designed to just be like, "hey dude, can i steal your plans?". Its more just common courtesy. I didn't design this, and I know this guy knows what he is doing. So i will respect his work by offering to buy one from him rather than ask for his results and not acknowledge his efforts.

(see above)

I just don't want someone to spend so much time and effort on something like this and just have it be cheapened by someone wanting the design of it instead of wanting to buy one. its just respect in my opinion. I'm sorry if what i said offended you, I am just saying what I think because I know how i would feel if it were me as the designer.
I agree. If he wanted people to build their own he would have made a writeup. I personally would be pretty angry if someone stole the plans to something I spent time building. Anyway I still want one so please tell me how much they are when you find a shop to make them. I am really excited about these.

I wasn't trying to steal anything, it was just a simple question to the OP. all i needed was a yes or no from him. Not trying to start a debate about business ethics. and i didn't think i was being rude at all.

Ok well you posted your question in an open forum thread. Anyone can respond to it. If you wanted to ask the OP something directly without others interacting with it you could have sent him a PM. I hope this does not become heated because I want this thread to stay open but please practice proper forum etiquette and do not get angry if others respond to a post you made in a way you do not like.

Been pretty busy here lately. Sorry if i have not responded to everyone. Just thought I'd give a little update. I have been talking to a patent attorney and the manufacturer. I also got an update from the tester. He sent me some pictures and said he likes it better than his other one that mounts to the passenger side of the console. He said that a large cup is pretty close to the shifter when in 2nd gear but it still works well. NOT good enough for me yet. I want it to work great. I have figured out how to move it back a ways but need to talk to the manufacturer again some time after the 4th of July. I have had a few people say they already want one. I am thinkin they will probably have to sell for around $35 so if anyone is interested just let me know and I will put you down for one. That will also give me an idea of how many to order. Sorry again for the delay. I'm gettin there.
Thanks again, also for all of your feedback.

I would still like to see pics of it installed with a cup and shifter in different positions.

I was wondering why you couldn't just slide it back.. and it wasn't until I was looking at the pics again that I realized it was installed in a full console. With the "mini console" there is just carpet between the parking brake and the "console" so it could be moved back quite a ways so that a large cup would not interfere with the shifter.

Prerunner, here are some pics installed with 5 spd.

2nd gear:

4th gear:

Reverse:

Pics are in that order. I couldn't figure out how to type in between pics.

The tester said it worked well the way it is but it is going to be changed so that it can be moved back a ways. I think it needs more clearance. Yes it is definitely only for the full console. Thanks for the picture of the mini console a while back by the way. I suppose this could fit under the e brake on the ones with the mini console but it would have to be screwed in some how. One model at a time. Maybe I could work on that next but that is probably an even smaller market. Don't know though?

2nd is the only one that looks close.

I think the same model would work in a "mini console" situation... with the understanding that it would have to be screwed down.

Looks good though. Good luck with your venture.

I really dont think it is a big deal. The only question I have is how hard is the parking brake to access. Looks a little tight.
