I just posted this in the midwest section but no response yet. I'll try it here.
Hi I just got a 96 XJ and the first thing I noticed was no cupholders. I am working on fabin up a new cupholder for the center console. I have made one and it works great in my automatic, but I am just curious if there is enough clearance for the shifter on a 5 speed. Does anyone around here have a 5 speed I could try it on. If it works, its yours! If not, I'll have to go back to the drawing board and try to make one to fit.
I could ship one if I had to, but just hoping there were some 5 speeds around the Des Moines Area.
Thanks

I have a 5 speed also, but if you post a pic of it installed we may be able to tell if it will clear with a 5 speed.

Well, I dont have any pics of it in the jeep yet but here is a pic of one on the workbench. It basically slips under the parking brake so you can still use the parking brake if needed. This one is a little wobbly but the next one will have a wider base so it fits snug into the well under the brake handle. I wanted to make it easy to install and remove without drilling holes or messing with screws. ( I dont like to drill holes in my vehicles unless absolutely neccessary.) I drink alot of the 32 oz. fountain pop/soda from gas stations and they fit very nice without even tipping. Cans, bottles, and even my coffee cup fit too. I need to make a few adjustments on the next one but this one works pretty good. Let me know what you all think.

do you have the mini console? sounds like you do, and if so you can get a full console from the JY and swap it in and it fits perfectly....or at least thats what i did

no pics of the switch, but i can give you a picture of the console itsself. only thing that has to be removed is the little plastic box that shoots heat on your feet that honestly is only there to fill the gap the mini console leaves and actually serves no purpose. only takes 2 screws too.....only other thing is you have to take off the little interior piece on the E-brake....2 more screws. you CAN get the heat distribution thing and a little metal pieice that mounts it down....but its really unneccessary. had it like it is for 6 months and couldnt be happier.
ill get you a pic right quick

I would be interested in seeing it actually in a rig. I think that is an awesome little design you got there. I can definitely see those up on Ebay and going quick.
