Default Craigslist Cherokee

Looking to buy my first car, think this is worth it for the price, any feedback would be appreciated.

-Guy says it's an 85, did they make Cherokees in 1985??

They did make them in 85 but I am pretty sure they didnt start using the I6 engine until later model years. Mine is an 87 and has the I6. Hope that helps some.

stay away from the v6 at all costs if possible. by the way if it is a v6 its a 2.8 liter.

Look for a XJ that is 87 and up that will have the inline 6 that everyone loves so much.

I agree, and if you can, get a 93 and later as it has the 1 piece front axle. You can definitely grab one for around $1000.

go to tow yard auctions. People get them towed in all the time and think they arent worth the tow bill. I bought one from a tow yard auction for $500. Drove it away, it was a 93.

hey, if you plan on offroading it any... I'd also try to watch for one with a Chrysler 8.25 rear end instead of the dana 35. Or if you're really lucky you might find one with a Dana 44. for 1800 bucks you can find one a bit newer, and cleaner than that one though. And probably with cup holders, lol.

Any of the early cherokees equipped with either NP-229 or the NP-242 transfer cases had the 1-piece axle shafts.

What kind of gas mileage does the Cherokee get? Random question from a future owner (hopefully)

I just finished searching and buying my first car and first xj. The most importand thing is to be patient. if your not, youll stumble into a deal and end up regretting it.
