Default Cherokee XJ Seats

I know this question has been asked many times but I don't see the answer I'm looking for, so I will try to be specific...

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee (Country). I don't want to do any modification. I just want this to be as simple as possible (e.g. unbolt out of junkyard Jeep...bolt into my Jeep). So my two questions are...

1) Which seats (year range / model) will fit into my Jeep unmodified (seat and slider together)?

Slightly different question...

2) Which seats (year range / model) will fit into my Jeep unmodified (remove seat from slider and attach to my slider)?

Thanks.

I changed the text in the middle of writing my question and I must have deleted the part where I described my Jeep. Ooops. I've edited the original post to include the year now. Thanks.

Does your stock seat bracket attach to a hump on the floor in the front? I can't remember what year that happened. If so, all XJ seats forward 1996?-2001 will fit. Also, all ZJ seats will fit right in if you detach the sliders from both seats and use the XJ sliders and ZJ seats.(4 bolts) Ice heard that WJ seats will fit with minor modification but not sure

What's wrong with them? Driver's side cushion leaning toward the door? If so, easy fix.

Wj seats work the same as ZJ seats. Just the 4 bolts and use the Xj sliders

The seats have tears in them and I just want to replace them. I'm just looking for the easiest fix. So let me make sure I understand this...

For my 1996 XJ, I can swap the entire front seat assembly (slider and seat) with and 1996-2001 XJ OR I can leave the existing (1996 XJ) slider and bolt any other 1996-2001 XJ seat, ZJ seat, or WJ seat to that slider.

lanf406, you seem to be uncertain about the range of years of XJ seats that this is true for. Does anyone know if it is 1996 or 1997?

Also, can anyone answer the same question about the back seats?

Thanks again. It's great to have people who are knowledgeable about these topics.

Yes you are correct! If it started in 1996 lol. Just look at your brackets under your seat. Old style bolts to the flat floor. New style has a hump that front of bracket bolts through... Ill look and see if I can snap some pics (have a 93 and a 99).

My ZJ seats are awesome! FYI, the electric ones are the same.. just disconnect the motors.

So after a few quick forum reads, the change happened in 1996 so you should be good to go! 1995> will have to modify the bracket a bit.

In northern climes rust on those fasteners can be a real headache.

NorthEastern No salt here!

I am happy with my ZJ seats... they are comfy, hold you in place and about the largest thing I could fit in with the roll bar.

Rear has been done but bit more work.

Awesome, thanks! I'm in TN so hopefully there isn't a rust issue. Can I assume the same for the backseat? 1996-2001 XJ should fit? What about ZJ or WJ back seats in my XJ?
