Hey, my Grand paw just gave me his old CB, its a High range I by high gain and it was made in 1975.

I dont really know how it works and how to use it, i hooked it up to the battery and i couldnt get anything other than fuzzy... it is rainy and i was in the garage so i dont no if its even possible to get a signal...

but im really just wundering how to work it and just the basics... lol

i think its pretty self explanitory, but i just dont know if im missing out on something... lol

heres mine

and also, is it safe just to wire it to the battery?? it has a (+) and (-) coming out of the back and a glass fuse built in.

Uhh... You did hook up an antenna, right? lol
I hope you didnt try "Keying" the mic without an antenna either. That will fry the internals.

It should be fine to wire it to the battery. You will need an antenna, coax cable, and an antenna mount, as the basics.. You should have a (~2a IIRC) fuse on the positive line, closest to the battery.
Channel 19 usually has the most people talking. If its setup right, you can get people for miles. Rain shouldnt affect it much

Pushing the button to talk..

Only thing I can suggest is hook up the antenna, turn the CB on, put it on 19 and wait till you hear someone talk... lol

Should be fine for testing, but Once you put it in the jeep Id put another inline fuse in, close to the battery. Dont want to light you jeep on fire.

You're better off to get a new antenna and coax cable.

Good old find ,be shure to pay attention to the polarity of the hot and ground wires ,some of those old units could be positive grounded.you can ask around but Radio shack has splices or new coax cable, just check the S W R before you talk on it ,good luck !
