Hey, I am in the same situation. It is cold here now(central Indy) and has been raining for a while so it will be a while before we get to go wheeling again because we go down by a river and I am pretty sure our trails are under water right now.

Anyway, I have been thinking of ideas to do with my XJ.
So far, I want to build a 3.5" lift from Rusty's, I bought my current XJ and the previous owner had a 2" spacer lift and 33x10.5's on it so easy to say, there is a little rubbing. If the 3.5" lift still doesn't leave enough room I will be buying 31"s no big deal.
I am going to get a roof rack so I can keep at least the spare tire up there.
Also, I am making a list of things I usually forget when camping and trying to keep those things with me. Like camping chairs(can't tell you how many times I have forgotten freakin' chairs)
I would love to figure out how to make my jeep into sorta an expedition XJ with lots of gear and supplies so I can just take off and go anywhere and camp.

If you don't already have a tote or box that has your camping gear like kitchen supplies, axe, tarp, etc... in it, I would suggest making one so you don't have to run around looking for everything before you go, it is all right there.
I am trying to figure out how to make a good, secure gun rack for one or two long guns as well as secure ammo and valuables storage.
That is all I can think of right now, but I have been trying to figure out the same thing as you.

I would buy the hard case for the Hi Lift and make sure it locks. I would not let my jack stay out in the weather, but that's just me. They also sell clamps that mount to a roof rack for a Jack. I am pretty sure Rusty's sells the clamps and hard cases.

I seen one guy that built a drop down table on the inside of his swing out tire carrier.

any type of camping stuff to bring along. cooking tripods, a canopy setup, you could be a overland camper, you could do a roof top tent. i mean really, the possibilities are endless depending on your budget and what you want/need out of your camping.

crafty also when you guys sleep in back what do you do? just fold the seats down and bring a sleeping bag? i was wondering if any kind of air matress or cushions or something could fit thinking it would be easier to get the girlfriend to go if its comfy

if you take the back seat out and push the front seats all the way forward it gives you a lot more room.

i usually just put the toolbox and such in the front seat with all the other random spare parts i have in the back. can always throw stuff in someone else's vehicle if they have a tent to sleep in.

I don't know about in my xj cause I was singal went that was my DD but my WJ can fit a full size air mattres! The wife & I love it, but my girls end up sleeping in there most of the time. I always put all my stuff on the front seat unless I'm not worried about it getting raind on! It makes it nice on the deer hunt my friend slept out in a tent & went I woke him up there was frost all around his head. Covering his pellow! Lol
