Calling in some painters for advice
Hello guys I need some advice on fixing my horrible monstaliner situation. I've redone it twice on my rockers, renders, hood, and bottom of the doors. It's bubbling up. Scratching, flaking and just falling off. Since the customer service sucks I'm stuck with it. So I think I found a way to remove it. I'm only going to repair my fenders so it matches. But the hood, rockers, and bottom of the doors are going to be grinded and sanded down to bare metal again. I'm looking at SPRAYING Upol raptor. Roll on isn't working for me. I was going to paint it but for the price of a decent spray gun and paint ill just raptor line it. My question is since its bare metal what primer should I use?

When you first did the monstaliner, how did you apply it? What was the surface condition? Did you apply it direct over the paint or did you scuff it? Or take it down to bare metal?

The first times. I simply just sanded down the paint and scruffed it up. Then cleaned and applied. The second time I scruffed up the monstaliner then cleaned then applied both times I rolled on. Surface condition was nice. It was my paint. And it wasn't in bad condition

the best paint advice you can get is to call your local paint specialty store and ask them some questions. what primer works with this, effective application methods etc. or call u-pol and ask. find out if raptor liner even needs a primer to adhere to or if it will protect bare metal from rust.

For my wheels, I put a satin black rusteolum spray over the top and then I painted some of the plastic trim as well. A few coats of each, but i really spent a lot of time on prep....like most of the day. I ground off all of the rust, cleaned with water that had Dawn in it, then used a rough sand paper, washed again and let dry completely.
I plan on lining my rockers sometime in the next month because the guy that had it before me did not do a great job. I have a lot of rust surfacing above the liner that's already there.
