Default a/c removal?

so i got in uh, fender bender with my jeep...actually hard enough to break the air conditioning condenser at any rate it got poked (so did the radiator) and i bought a new radiator for cheap (103$) at an autozone

so my question is - my A/C hasnt worked since i bought the jeep. probably just needs refilled because theres no refrigerant

i'm thinking of taking the condenser out and trying to get all the other a/c junk out of there. first question is, is there a belt (guessing there is) running the A/c? and if i bypass it, any power gains? figured you guys would know best on this question, im new with the xj.

thanks for any help and suggestions guys! i could buy a new condenser but would rather not spend $150 on it and still need to buy refrigerant next year too when its hot - hell i'm fine with windows down none of my previous cars had air that works, would rather have the power gain if there is any

Just search google. They make a bypass pulley for the 91+ jeeps.

Dorman makes an A/C delete pulley for the XJ with a 4.0.

i ripped all the a/c out of my 88 except for the pulley i plan on takin it out when the pulley bearings go and find a dumby pulley i wouldnt recommend cutting the high and low pressure lines because i dont know if it was a coinsidence but the heat didnt work that well afterwards.

There is a DIY on removing the ac and relocating the alternator to the ac spot to get it out of the water and mud. Ill try to post the link I found on doing this. It's a good wright up.

I used this one on my '98 for the same reasons and it opened up a lot of room but I wish I had just relocated the alt.

i did the relocation of the alternator and i had one problem that the belt wouldn't touch the fan clutch in its normal position and now i have the fan running backwards and i am over heating. so i am having to do the electric fan upgrade to compensate for that. i have a 97 just so you know the belt was 76 X 6 that i used.

Smeltmaster, can you just flip the blades? The fan may be running backwards, but if you can flip the blades, then the fan should be pulling air through the radiator instead of trying to push it through.
