Default Burned out, should I sell it?

So I bought my XJ two years ago, and slowly been fixing it, but it's been two years, thousands of dollars, many many hundreds of hours, and its not even street-able right now. I am pretty discouraged, and have it just parked at the side of my house where I can't even look at it right now.
Normally I would just shove it in the garage, and have it just be in the way for a few years, but I'm looking to move my family across the country next year. Literally from the west coast to the east. So I'm going to have 0 time and money, trying to fix my house up to sell, and put away money to move.

I cannot drive it, so I would have to pay thousands of dollars to ship it. I plan on selling other vehicles, I currently have 4, and we cannot sell my truck or our Tahoe (cannot replace the truck, and the Tahoe is the only vehicle that holds my family of 7).

I probably would regret selling it, and I know I won't even get half of what I have into it in just parts back, and the parts I got, most cost almost double what I paid for them if I decide to go it again. But looking at it just makes me frustrated and angry right now.

Don't sell it!
I have enjoyed your journey with this Jeep, and like you said you will regret it if you do sell it.
We are living in such uncertain times, that is good to hold on to something like this.
I sold my first car, (67 Shelby) . and still regret it to this day. Of course now I could never replace it unless I hit the lottery jackpot.
Your lil Wagoneer will be the same very soon.

EDIT: What do you need to do before you get it running again???

The brakes a suggestion, and I've replaced the master twice, did everything I needed to do, the seats are a mess, I thought I was getting some good ones, and they are trash. The A/C doesn't work, it has a vacuum leak at the intake/exhaust, the throttle sticks sometimes when driving (not good). I have it listed at $7000. I have close to 9k in parts, much less the cost of the jeep. If somebody buys it for that, it's theirs. If it doesn't sell by the time I move, I'll drag it with me, but I'm done working on it for at least a year, even if it does come with.

I've towed my long-term rig when moving hundreds of miles twice - a car hauler isn't that expensive to rent and I bet the Tahoe could tow it... or a moving van if you're getting one of those. I'd wait until you have know definitively where you'll be living when you move and worst comes to worst, you could always store it temporarily and then try and sell it after you move. Might be a logistical nightmare but honestly, you sound like you might already be deep in that pool of misery (sorry - it just loves company my friend).

I listed it, if it doesn't sell I'll drag it. I have 4 cars, and i figure it will take two loads to move everything across country. So u-haul trip 1 tows 1 car, u-haul trip tows 2nd vehicle, and then trip 3 is tahoe towing jeep. I actually work for uhaul and so get a discount on rentals.

been here multiple times, seemingly upside down on investment vs satisfaction. Best i can say is weigh the options, which one gives you less stress and better suites you/your family longer term?

Any bites? Give us on update on where you are at selling vs taking it with you.

I've had plenty of people offer to buy parts off (specifically the rear bumper, grill, etc). but no bites on the whole car. I have it listed for $1000 LESS than what I have in parts into it, much less the purchase price of the jeep, so I'm not wiling to drop my price at all.

So it is more than likely going to go with me back east. My goal after I move is to have a proper garage with a lift, Maybe once I have that I'll have more desire to finish working on it. I've been working on my wife's car recently, and crawling around on the ground when I'm nearly 40 years old is getting..... old.

Try it at 62! I'm still not sure what I will do with mine long term. It is supposed to be my retirement vehicle and I have it now to fix it up while I have an income stream. The goal would be to have it done when I'm ready to ride off into the sunset and have a solid dependable vehicle to meet the other old men for coffee.

But if I get some kind of windfall and can afford to buy a newer vehicle that all I have to do is wash and wax, I will let this one go.

In the meantime, I hope the continue to increase in value. For both of us.

yeah I'm 99% sure i'm dragging it across the country. I'm sure it will be worth more where I am going than it is here.
