Model: Cherokee (XJ)

First time post asking question for my nephew. He has a 99 Cherokee Sport with rear drum brakes. When he first drives in reverse brakes grab. After driving a short distance around the block they stop grabbing. I do not know anything about Cherokee’s but my first guess would be something related to self-adjusters. Is this typical Cherokee problem? Thanks for any tips or ideas.
