Better mpg
I Know there are tons of threads out there but everybody has different circumstances. so what if you were in the worst of the worst situation and had a 4.5" lift and 31" tires where do you start? Exhaust? Injectors? I have no idea.

I get about 16 mpg with 4.5 in of lift and 33s . I do regular matience all the time and my 4.0 has a easy time turning the tires even thought I'm not geared. My jeep started out an SE model 2wd and everything pretty much factory except ford injectors newer intake mAnafold on a 96 and a Chevy fuel pump wired in place of the jeeps fuel pump and now it's 4x4 and far from SE now but still I get about 16 mpg.

im gonna have to get in here too lol. your exhaust might be pinched, mine was. i fixed my pinch, ported my throttle body, made an air intake, and added 93 ford f250 orange 19lb fuel injectors. all that helped me by roughly 4 mpg i went from 10 to 14. then i ditched the 35s and went with 32s and that helped some too but ive not checked it since

If its stock and doing that bad then you better start cleaning stuff or workin on your math lol. Get plugs, all filters and clean throttle body, check tire pressure.

How difficult was it for you to switch to the f250 fuel injectors and how much did it cost for them?

it was a very easy job. a cave man could do it. i think there is 4 bolts holding on the fuel rail then there are a few holding the throttle cable thing on then you just pull the rail right off. its kinda tight so it takes some tugging. plus you gotta take the cap off the pressure valve which is also easy, you can do it with a screwdriver. basically like if you were letting the air out of a tire, its the same kinda mechanism.
as far as prices they are gonna vary cause i got mine from a junkyard. they cost me 20 dollars. when i got them home i soaked them in a 50/50 purple power rubbing alcohol solution then scrubbed them with a tooth brush. (i used this solution cause its all i had lol) there are youtube videos on how to clean them better and test them.
these injectors are not the ideal injectors to go with but i saw some small gains and was pleased with the results. most people go with a dodge neon setup. i chose these cause i was tired of trying to figure out which was better and net searching so i said ef it and charted my own territory lol. to my surprise it worked like a charm. either will work fine but ideally you want neon injectors. with the neons you might also have to splice connectors. i didnt have to with the ones i got.
good luck and if you have anymore questions just ask, id love to help. also in the next post im gonna add a link to my thread on my injectors and the one to my build, there might be some other gas saver ideas in there i dont remember

Seafoam the gas and vaccum every other or every third oil change. Tune ups as needed, don't carry the extra crap around with you all the time, keep the tires aired up, ect, ect. Keeping your mpg up on an XJ is basic, there's not much in the way of performance mods that you can do.
I keep up basic maintenance and on 32 m/ts im getting 14 mpg or so around town and I drive with a lead foot.
