8in is alot of work and money. But if your planning on making it mud worthy only shoot for 8. But if you plan on driving it down the road dont do anything over 6. JMO

unibody! I agree 100% an xj with 35's and 4-6" will be all you need!

ok thanks for the suggestions i have been looking at the 4.5 in lifts with a long arm setup so i think i will go that route is there a good or bad year cherokee i should look at when buying one? i have seen alot of 90s around for veeery reasonable prices any suggestions on that?

I try to stay as close to 100k miles as i can, but it is an XJ so you can go over a bit and still be comfortable. Year is not as much an issue if the engine is good in my opinion.
