So I haven't been around for a handful of months. I have since, replaced/rebuilt my motor, bought a lift kit (still need to install), got a set of wheels (need tires). Now that I have been driving on a freshly built motor for a while, it feels as if my transmission may need some attention. I went ahead and picked up a used one last night, for a few bucks. I'll be installing a shift kit, probably new torque converter and most likely a master rebuild kit. Anyone have recommendations of rebuild kits? I didn't build a stroker, but I did port the head and matched a 99+ intake, an header and throttle body. The power is night and day difference.

Welcome back has been a while. Depending on what size lift you bought do you have an SYE, good with any? If you don't check out XJwonders here for a complete TC with one installed he is close to you and has used and rebuilt TC's I think. I wish I had went with one of his as he uses a vg quality SYE in his.

Just a 3" RC lift.

A 3" should only require a TS drop kit.

I would never suggest a drop. Sye is the only right way to do it.

Hell I ran one for over a year with zero issues with a 3" lift, most problems come from not installing properly (not loosening mounts first) or having bad motor/trans mounts to start with.

or hitting the crossmember on a rock because it hangs down an inch or the exhaust being strained or the mounts being strained or the trans dipstick being shoved into a loom of wires or the crappy angle it puts the front driveshaft at. It's like a crappy bandaid for a little bit. I would never suggest one especially not long term. It will ruin mounts whether you loosen them before or not. It puts them at angles they weren't meant to be at, and aren't used to.

I broke down and got a torque converter, master rebuild kit, trans mount, shift kit and trans temp gauge. Should have it built up in the next two or three weeks.
