When I say they are new bearings, they are new bearings. I’d say less than 50 miles on them. Is this normal wear? Or is something else going on

 

No. That's not normal wear.

Either the oil was full of metal chips or the crank journal was turned with an ax. ( and now the oil is full of metal chips.)

 

No that is not normal wear, that is shot. Many years ago (20) during my first stroker build, I did the cam break in procedures without ensuring that oil had fully saturated the bearings. Started the motor...15 to 20 sec into it with oil pressure showing on gauge , jumped up to 2000-2500 for however long was standard practice . When i drained the break in oil it was pure silver...toasted all the bearings...they looked like that. Who did the rebuild? How does the crank look?

 

Normal? Nope! What do the other ones look like?
